Good Hearts
02:59
|
|||
Cursed my children when, naïve, believed
A liar who said, “Betray your father, you can do better than this”
Bitter pain, bore two babes
My son slew his brother
And his blood cried out from the earth
Children our hearts are desperately sick
And we’ve got stones in our chests instead of flesh
Our heels bruised, who can crush our foe?
Restore good hearts to us all
Downcast woman, fugitive son
Drag my sin, guilt like a stone
Blood on my hands, sweat on my brow
Labor for bread from the cursed ground
He breathed in life, I forsook
He called me a Man, I said he’s not good enough
All our days we eat bitterness, it’s meaningless
Born of dust, back to dust when my heart beats its last
Children our hearts are desperately sick
And we’ve got stones in our chests instead of flesh
Our heels bruised, who can crush our foe?
Restore good hearts to us all
Create in me a clean heart oh God
Renew a steadfast spirit in me
Restore unto me the joy of my salvation
Restore good hearts to us all
Restore good hearts to us all
To us all

While The Nations Rage
04:13
|
|||
Why do the nations rage?
Why do they plot and scheme?
Their bullets can't stop the prayers we pray
In the name of the Prince of Peace
We walk in faith and remember long ago
How they killed Him and then how on the third day He arose
Well, things may look bad
And things may look grim
But all these things must pass except the things that are of Him
Where are the nails that pierced His hands?
Well the nails have turned to rust
But behold the Man
He is risen
And He reigns
In the hearts of the children
Rising up in His name
Where are the thorns that drew His blood?
Well, the thorns have turned to dust
But not so the love
He has given
No, it remains
In the hearts of the children
Who will love while the nations rage
The Lord in Heaven laughs
He knows what is to come
While all the chiefs of state plan their big attacks
Against His anointed One
The Church of God she will not bend her knees
To the gods of this world though they promise her peace
She stands her ground
Stands firm on the Rock
Watch their walls tumble down when she lives out His love
Where are the nails that pierced His hands?
Well the nails have turned to rust
But not so the Man
He is risen
And He reigns
In the hearts of the children
Rising up in His name
Where are the thorns that drew His blood?
Well, the thorns have turned to dust
But behold the love
He has given
It remains
In the hearts of the children
Who will love while the nations rage
While the nations rage
Well, where are the nails that pierced His hands?
Well the nails have turned to rust
But behold the Man
He is risen
And He reigns
In the hearts of the children
Rising up in His name
Where are the thorns that drew His blood?
Well, the thorns have turned to dust
But not so the love
He has given
Oh, it remains
In the hearts of the children
Who will love while the nations rage

Lockdown
03:46
|

Hit the rock hard in the middle of night
A nervous three more months, menagerie in fright
40 more with the door locked tight to the floor
I want to stretch our wings, return to life before
To the raven even death looks fine to eat
The bird of prey gets around with muddy feet
He was fit for the mission, flying to and fro, but he lacked
The heart to bring any information back
I’m flying out of the safest place that I’ve known
I see the world has changed and
I’m soaring over the waters searching for a new home
I guess we’ll have to rethink this
I made a flyover, not a valley in sight
With nowhere dry to nest, I carried on in flight
Didn’t see a living thing, just a world that’s warped
A raven picking out the eyes of a floating corpse
Flying out again but I’m not afraid
To find a place and the perch for which I was made
The landscape washed with chaos, but I’ll try
And send an olive leaf back to say goodbye
I’m flying out of the safest place that I’ve known
I see the world has changed and
I’m soaring over the waters searching for a new home
I guess we’ll have to rethink this

Hope
03:46
|
|||
Clear skies sailing on a summer afternoon
Storm clouds in the distance, what are we to do?
Drop anchor and hold the course or
Bail out and swim for shore
We won’t be coming this way again soon
The hardest thing that I ever did was stay
And the roughest road that I’ve ever known
Was the one that led round to home
The worst word that I ever heard was wait
But the best hope that I perceived is
Maybe this is where we were meant to be now
Maybe this is where
Maybe this is where we were meant to be now
Maybe this is where…
Put his hand to the plow and now he’s bleeding out
Doc do your sutures leave a scar, do you leave my conscience seared with doubt?
I never seen him quite so afraid
And I won’t be the last to say
We can’t for some time return again this way
When you’re storm-tossed, and you’re off-course
And your broken heart keeps beating, pumping blood out of open cuts
Everything you knew is lost, and your friends are gone
What we need now is a glimpse of home
What we need now is a sight of hope
Green grass in the shade I laid down
At at my mother and father’s house I feel asleep
The hardest thing that I ever did was stay
And the roughest road that I’ve ever known
Was the one that led round to home
The worst word that I ever heard was wait
But the best hope that I perceived is
Maybe this is where we were meant to be now
Maybe this is where
Maybe this is where we were meant to be now
Maybe this is where…

81 On 81
03:30
|

Hours into the road trip
Everyone fell asleep
Somehow the silence struck me in East Tennessee
Courage made me an offer
Pursue the dreams as yet undone
I was barreling down the highway, south on 81
And my fingers started tapping out the song
Hidden deep inside my heart
81 on 81
All my dreams are on the dashboard
All the circuits are aligned, I’m not afraid
81 on 81
Looking back into the rearview
I can see all the provision that you’ve made
Too often through the switchbacks
And valleys of greenery
For focus on the road ahead
I missed the scenery
Tenacity sprung up within me
Just then the battle was won
On the open stretch of highway
Highway 81
And my fingers started tapping out the song
Hidden deep inside my heart
81 on 81
All my dreams are on the dashboard
All the circuits are aligned, I’m not afraid
81 on 81
Looking back into the rearview
I can see all the provision that you’ve made

Incident
03:55

It was the born again movement at the Word of Life Church
The bible school grad students went on a search
They took a one-way train down to the wild west sticks
Of the forgotten tribes, the year was 1986
Soon there was no destination, there was no place to go,
They were caught in the rain and the food was running low
An old lady found them huddled up under a bridge
She’d never seen this kind of people so far south of the ridge
5 brothers and 2 sisters cut a path through the hills
Uncharted backwoods land, the Spirit leads where he wills
Out from a turn in the road, bandits armed to the teeth
The brothers cried they had no money and that they came in peace.
The bandits pushed them round, tied them up, and loot their stuff
The Christians wouldn’t fight back though they were treated so rough
Brother Guo was so old but something rose up inside
As they moved toward the the girls, a lustful look in their eyes
How long can I hold back and stand aside
Watch at a distance while my hands are tied
He wouldn’t see those girls raped so then it all came back
His army training and his honor, and his kung fu attack
It’d been decades now since his body would bend
But his sisters sacred honor he’d protect and defend
A punch to the gut and then a knee to the chin
Elbow to the jaw and a kick with a spin
The bible man had come down for purposes divine
But wouldn’t now he use his skills for just such a time
With no malice in my heart my fists grow tight
How can I let the evil go without a fight
With no one to watch his back another bandit got the drop
Sliced his ear with a knife and rose again for a chop
Old Guo would not go down, or see his sisters come to harm
And with a twist of the wrist, the man was soon disarmed
He fought on in fury like a man on fire
Could not catch his breath but would not expire
All four bandits dropped their weapons and ran
Limping back into the dark woods from which they came
They arrived at the village and they patched him up
His hearing was gone, but he would never give up
The sisters later said it was a strength from above
The Spirit filled him as he struggled to defend in love
They went on to share light that had come
Of the Savior who delivers from the evil one

Awake
04:13
|
|||
Awake my soul
Awake my mind
Awake a million mandolins, I think it’s time
For giving thanks
And singing praise
Your love is great above the heavens and faithful are your ways
Let your glory ring through all the earth
Let the ones you love be delivered
They laid a trap
They set a snare
They hurled a dozen poisoned spears into the air
The net was cast
My soul bowed down
I would have fallen in the pit if I hadn’t heard that sound
Let your glory ring through all the earth
Let the ones you love be delivered
We live in hope
We wait and pray
Pressing on in righteousness until the day
Of your return
Glory revealed
Suffering behind us, by his wounds we have been healed
Let your glory ring through all the earth
Let the ones you love be delivered
