IVM005. Originally released in May of 2004 on Indie Vision Music. Our first encounter with "Metalcore" as a label.

A band called “Josiah” sent me a demo called “The Whom Jehovah Heals” ep in 2003 while I was running the IVM label and I was instantly impressed upon first spin. They played a fiery brand of spirit filled metalcore not at all unlike ZAO or Haste the Day. Their lyrics were “on fire” and centered around inspiring a personal relationship with Christ, through music. I was extremely pleased with this band. I signed them soon after and they entered the studio at the end of 2003 to record with famed producer Tim Bushong in Indiana. The end result is “Verona”. The artwork was great (done by a friend and not by the IVM web design team of WEB X DESIGN) and if you look at the spine, you’ll notice a tip of the hat to Focused’s first release “Bow”, the originators of the Spirit Filled Hardcore movement in the 90s. We even mistakenly labeled it “Spirit Filled Hardcore” in all the press releases, packaging, and sale of the record. This was partly my fault because I was the biggest Spirit Filled Hardcore fan there was and I was extremely devoted to that scene in high school. So when it came time to market this album, I wanted to tip my hat to that movement and so I labeled it Spirit Filled Hardcore when it clearly wasn’t. This was metalcore at it’s most dirty, raw, and undiluted.

The band also ran into trouble with another group from the UK calling themselves “Josiah”. We were issued a cease and desist letter from the band telling us to immediately change the name. To add more insult to injury, I told the band I was quitting the Indie Vision Music label and I truly had plans to end it all and get rid of the site all together. Lead vocalist Joshua W. quit the band and the remaining members continued on under the name The Unfolding and signed to Future Destination Records.
